Esquisse Two - Understanding Form
Using form and geometry in the design process.
Aim:
To construct a 100 x 100 x 100mm 5 sided pyramid using only 10mm X-board (no glue or fixings) by calculating the correct geometry to ensure it remains within these dimensions.
Outcome:
Determined to challenge myself, I decided to try do this in only one go. This made the entire process quite lengthy because it took a lot of time to carefully plan each step through. Just drawing out the template alone took over an hr. After mustering up the courage to make the first cut, it was quite a repetitive process after that with a lot of 45 degree angle cuts. The locking system really stumped me because it was quite difficult to find a clean way to join all 4 triangles together. The final result isn't 100% perfect but I'm quite happy with it still. I also managed to achieve my goal in only doing this once =D
